Support Us

There are lots of ways that you can support us, from taking part in a fundraising event, to raising money at work or making a one-off or regular donation.

GIVE IN MEMORY

Honour your loved one’s memory while giving hope to visually impaired people across South Essex. You can give in memory of a loved one by making an online donation to BASIS via our secure online donation form

You can also donate by post: Please send a cheque made payable to “Blind & Sight Impaired Society” to Fundraising team, Blind & Sight Impaired Society, Bradbury House, Witchards, Basildon SS16 5BP.

Set up a BASIS Tribute Fund

A BASIS Tribute Fund is an inspiring way to honour a loved one. It provides a special space online to share with family and friends, where they can make a gift.
It gives a focus for you, your family and friends to honour your loved one with memories, photos and videos, and also to focus your fundraising efforts in their name.

Create your tribute fund on JustGiving.

Funeral Giving

Receiving donations instead of flowers or collecting at a funeral is a lovely way to remember your loved one.

When paying in donations, it’s important to us that we process and acknowledge the donation correctly, so please let us know the following:

The name of the person the donation is being made in memory of.

Your name, address and relationship to the person the donation is being made in memory of.

Please make cheques payable to Blind & Sight Impaired Society and send them to: Fundraising team, Blind & Sight Impaired Society, Bradbury House, Witchards, Basildon SS16 5BP.

We are on hand to answer any questions you may have about organising a collection or any other aspect of giving in memory.

Leave a legacy gift in your will

Every year, kind supporters remember BASIS by leaving us a gift in their will.

If, like them, you believe no one affected by sight loss should have to struggle alone, then please do consider joining them.

How to leave a legacy

There are a number of ways you could leave a legacy gift to BASIS in your will and it is easier than you might think. Below are the most common types of gifts and suggested wording to include in your will:

  • A residuary gift: What is left after any specific or monetary gifts have been made from the estate and all expenses and taxes have been paid.
  • A cash gift: A specific amount of money bequeathed to an individual or organisation.
  • A gift in kind: An alternative to a gift of money, where a product or service is given directly.
  • In the wording of a trust: A specified sum of money left in a trust fund to be given to a charity.

Please be aware that the above is only guidance, not legal advice. You should always contact a solicitor or legal professional before making or updating your will.

If you do wish to include us, you will need the following details:

Blind & Sight Impaired Society, Bradbury House, Witchards, Basildon, SS16 5BP.

If you are able to include BASIS in your will, by whatever means you choose, we can’t thank you enough for your generosity.
